What Do You Think of the Whole 2012 Dooms Day Scenario? By Lance Winslow Platinum Quality Author

As most of us know the Mayan Calendar was one very accurate accomplishment for that incredible ancient empire. Of course, it is a bit scary when you consider that their calendar runs out in 2012. What does it mean; some speculate the end of human life on Planet Earth. Not long ago our online think took up discussion on this topic. After reviewing Arthur C. Clarke's 90th Birthday video on the Internet, where he mentions 2012 - the question was:

An interesting fellow, would like to sit down with him and pick his brain sometime. What do you make of this whole 2012 thing?

Another member just could not resist this intriguing concept and stated:

I would say that the Mayan Empire, well they were not stupid, somewhat advanced and could have even had some help there, who knows. But we also know that 2012 will be at the height of a Solar Cycle, and that humans often have a way of creating their own self-fulfilling prophesies. Additionally, there is always the need to keep people in fear of the unknown, be it y2K, Global Warming, Nuclear Holocaust, Alien Invasion, Bird Flu, Comet strike, etc.

Interestingly enough, well, I see the alternative media is making hay with all this; Coast to Coast AM for instance will not stop talking about it, plus, some folks are making money selling eBooks, movie scripts, etc. It is that old Doom and Gloom Scenario, you know? So the Skeptic in me is laughing, and the other part of me, says, hmm? Well, it does make a little bit of sense, still Occam's Razor declines to make a full statement at this time, no need to ruffle features. The question is what say you. Something to contemplate in 2008.
