Love Astrology: How the Karma of Connection Affects YOUR Ability to Find True Love

I believe that everyone comes into the world with a soulmate or spiritual partner....pretty much picked out BEFORE you are born.
Or maybe said a bit better.....I believe that each of us choose who we are going to love in this lifetime, and the lessons we are supposed to learn from relationship are pretty much understood BEFORE we even meet up again.
There is very little chance, luck or coincidence in life....especially when it comes to matters of the heart, spiritual growth or the karma of connection.
Many first time readers here a term like "karma" and think it means something weird, exotic or "new age".
It doesn't. And every religion and spiritual tradition under the sun has some form of karmic teaching at the core of what it teaches, preaches and hopes it adherents will follow.
For example?
The basic law of "you reap what you sow" is pretty much present in ALL religious and spiritual teaching.
And karma is all about aligning outcomes, with actions. Cause and effect. You get what you give. What comes around GOES around. And so forth.
So how where do KARMA, astrology and LOVE intersect?
Quite simply, I believe that we come into this world with 2 primary purposes.
1 - To grow, evolve and develop spiritually
2 - To find, feel and OFFER true and unconditional love
I believe that the Universe knows who is the perfect spiritual match for each of us, and that it conspires to help us find, or be re-united with that perfect person, ONCE we open ourselves up to this truth.
The real reason most people will NOT find true love?
Because they listen to their heads....and NOT to their hearts. So many of us make decisions about love, lust, romance and relationship based on what our heads tell us is sensible, logical or looks good on "paper", without any real understanding of our true life purpose. (which I believe is to be re-untied with our one true love......before this lifetime is complete)
This is NOT just a new age concept by the way.....
All major religions teach us that we have a spiritual soulmate, and that our lives our incomplete unless we find them.
Judaism, for example....or Kabllah (the mystical form of judaism I practice) teaches us that we each have a "beshert" or spiritual soulmate a birth, and that our souls are literally split in half before we are born....and that our ONLY real job is to find our other half before we depart this life.
Not recognizing this can lead to a lifetime of unhappiness....and for settling for far less love than we truly deserve.
Most potentially unfortunate?
Many believe that your spiritual karma can be "re-set" and if you don't find your true spiritual soulmate, that someone else can step in and substitute in your place. (I don't know if I believe this is true.....but many do, and it's a pretty common motivator as well!)
The truth is, if you don't think that you've EVER met someone that is truly right for you, a love astrology reading can help light the way. So too can deep meditation, visualization, tarot, or even a karma or past life reading that reveals your spiritual journey to arrive at where you are right now.
And while all of this may SOUND hard to believe and understand, the truth is....with divorce rates hovering at 60% + and MOST couples admitting to being unhappy, the price you pay for setting for less than you deserve in love and life is NOT a price I'm willing to pay! (and those of us who believe in soul-mates and spiritual partnerships are FAR happier than our counterparts who don't!)

Soul Mates And Twin Spirits What Are They Really?

Many of us have had a distinctive experience of having met someone for the first time, someone with whom we feel we are incontrovertibly connected deep within our souls. We may believe this new person is our soul mate or our twin soul. But what are our soul mates or twin spirits really? Can we truly be linked to another spirit and destined to meet one another in many different incarnations? Were we somehow made for one another by a divine creator who provides for all of us someone special with whom we may share our lives?

Like many spiritual beliefs, the concepts of twin spirits or soul mates are predicated upon deep spiritual experiences for which there are really no adequate words. We use metaphors to try to describe such experiences until the experiences become so commonplace that new words evolve to more accurately describe our experiences or the metaphors stick like glue and we come to accept the metaphor as a literal description when in fact it may still fall short of being a valid description of our experience.
While it is undeniably true that many of us have experiences in which we recognize another soul with whom we are intimately connected in some inexplicable way, perhaps we should examine the metaphors we use to describe these experiences to shed some light on what may really be going on. Metaphors are used to apply past experiences which we understand to new experiences which we have no proper concepts for. Without clearly understood concepts we can have no words which accurately describe our new experiences which is why we must resort to metaphors. But a metaphor is only an approximate likeness between two experiences which will usually accurately describe our familiar experience but which will provide only a reasonably close ‘as-if’ description of our new experience.

So when we meet someone with whom we feel we share a common past or destiny we search for a way to explain this feeling and our culture has developed the concepts of soul mates and twin spirits to accommodate our need for words to describe how we feel.

The metaphors of soul mates and twin spirits come from our real experiences with having partners in life, our mates, or having known someone with a twin, a biological condition. Both indicate a degree of relatedness that is above and beyond the way we appear to be related to most other people in our lives and that is the essence of what we are trying to express when we find someone with whom we communicate on a very deep level of our souls.

Neither marriage nor twins may have any real meaning in regard to our spirits, so the popular concepts of soul mates and twin spirits may be off the mark in the context of the spiritual reality of our souls. We may have wonderful people in our lives with whom we are deeply connected whom we may have a great affinity for in the context of our spiritual lives beyond the limits of our incarnations, but they may not be our twins or mates, but something other for which we have not yet found adequate words to accurately describe these very special relationships.

Marriage is a societal convention, mates are temporary phenomena, the lives of our souls in the spirit world may have vastly different social conventions and we may have many mates all of whom are special to us each in their own way but none of whom we may be mated to or married to in any sense that is either permanent or exclusive of someone else.

Likewise, this special person with whom we share an incredibly intimate bond may not be related to us in the manner of a twin. Our spirits seem unlikely to have grown from a single egg and our spirits all share the same womb from which they were born so we cannot be twins in the fraternal sense in any manner that may be considered special since in the ultimate sense we must then all be twins to one another including every other spirit in creation.

However, there are considerations which may make the concepts of soul mates and spiritual twins valid metaphors for our experiences of being thoroughly connected with another person’s soul.

Perhaps our souls have somehow divided themselves and our souls have thereby created an independent twin or a soul mate. This is one explanation I can offer which would make soul mates or twin spirits a reasonably valid metaphor for the experience of meeting a very special person. When I examine the beginning of creation at the time our souls are created I do not see any of us in the roles of twins or mates. So if soul mates or twin spirits truly exist then perhaps they must come much later. If they did come later then that would make them a different order of being from what I would call our primary souls; those infinite sparks cast forth in the first moment of creation. Each of our primary souls is like a hologram such that every one of us contains every one of us within ourselves. If we were to become divided and become two separate specially related souls we might then be twin spirits, but we would no longer be the primary soul from which we originally came, even though each of the souls we have become has its origin in a pre-existing undivided state of our soul.

Another possibility would be that twin spirits or soul mates may simply have shared many experiences together over many different incarnations or have always remained close to one another throughout most of their experiences in the spiritual world of our souls.

Soul mates are sometimes described as being paired opposites, however opposites is a weak term to describe this state of connectedness since it appears to preclude areas where two 'soul mates' may be very much alike.
The philosophy of twin spirits or soul mates is most often predicated upon a belief that god provided for every one of us a perfect mate. But then why is finding that perfect mate so difficult? Has god created our perfect mate only to challenge us to find them? I doubt that it is like that, god does not seem perverse to me.

I think we all began in an identical state or condition and that we have then evolved into what we will become. I think the concept of twin spirits or soul mates is too limiting in regard to the potential scope of our love, and that we are meant to love everyone and are not meant to cling to only one special soul throughout eternity.

Of course I may be mistaken, these are only my thoughts of the moment and my position may change as I consider these questions more carefully over time.

One issue I have with the concepts of soul mates and spiritual twins is that they are predicated upon the cognitive process of duality and ultimately duality is an illusion imposed upon us by our limited abilities to think clearly. Again, I may be mistaken, but I do not think that duality applies to who we are as spirits in the most primal sense of our being. Duality appears to be only a tool for picking apart our experiences so that our conscious minds can discover useful terms with which to describe our experiences.

Regardless of the validity of the metaphors we use to describe the sweet experiences we have of meeting someone with whom we may feel we have shared eternity, many of us most definitely connect in a very unique and intimate manner with some very special person in our lives. Thos people with whom we click in this extraordinary manner often become pivotal people in transforming our lives for the better so that we help one another to grow and to evolve as more loving, nurturing and compassionate human beings.

If you are lucky enough to believe you have found your soul mate or a spiritual twin you then should go for broke. The person whom you have found may indeed reflect that belief in your deep union and prove to be a loving partner or a deeply cherished friend well worth knowing and loving and keeping close to you in your present incarnation on earth.

Are You Soul Mates or Twin Flames?

Everyone has a soul mate and a twin flame. Soul mates are those people who you resonate with at a very deep level. Meeting a soul mate for the first time will give you a sense of familiarity and there is usually a strong attraction. If you believe in reincarnation, soul mates are part of your soul family who incarnate as different people: father, mother, brother, sister, husband, wife, lover or friend. They are people who help resolve karmic issues with you. You have more than one soul mate and they are in your life to help you learn lessons so you may become wise and powerful.
A twin flame is your other half. It is one soul that has been polarized into the male and female halves. It is the human template as exemplified by Eve being created from Adam as his perfect mate. According to tradition, your other half is usually on the other side helping you with earthly tasks, trials and tribulations. They are your dearest guardian angel, lifting you up when you are down, giving you strength, hope and direction when you are feeling lost or alone. The closest phenomenon we know to this experience is the birth of identical twins. They have a close telepathic relationship and their lives parallel accordingly. The quest for our true twin soul is a need driven by a deep unconscious love and longing imprinted in all of us. It is the story myths are made of. Increasingly more and more twin flames are being born at the same time in the appropriate sexes and ages to have relationships. They are connecting at this time in history because they can manifest a very powerful form of unconditional love for each other that can help speed up the planet's spiritual growth. Unconditional love means the ability to forgive each other and forgiveness dissolves karmic bonds. Helping these twins to find one another and connect in a meaningful way is important for this love to grow--and there seem to be hundreds coming forward. The recent Venus retrogrades (the first in 2004 and the second in 2012) has accelerated our consciousness of this phenomenon.
Carl Jung's concept of the male and female halves is much like the taiji symbol, there is a little bit of feminine in the masculine and vice versa for balance, his famous "anima" and "animus". We also understand the importance of balancing yin (feminine) and yang (masculine) aspects not only within our own personalities, but also in a relationship. For example if a couple are both arguing with each other, they are both yang or "active" and usually nothing gets resolved because neither one is listening. If one person is yin (receptive) while the other is yang or speaking, then information can be absorbed. They can switch polarities as needed so each can speak and be heard, but one always needs to be the opposite polarity for best results. In this way there is balance and progress.
All people have a twin flame and if you wish to find or work with yours, there are prayers that can help. If your twin is not incarnate, you can work with your twin soul through your current soul mate relationship to manifest unconditional love and this will improve your relationships. One very important skill to develop is to learn to listen to your partner without judgment--and this is not as easy as it sounds. We all want and need to feel accepted, but listening without judgment means to rest our personal needs and feelings momentarily. We must learn to help and support each other through this important human experience. Unconditional love means you always love the person even if they do something upsetting.
Do you know someone who has had a relationship that starts and stops a lot, is intense, but also painful and difficult, yet this person can't give the other up easily? If you do, then they may be twin flames. There are ways to speed up the process of joining in harmony-- and counseling by an experienced guide can be extremely valuable. Because each twin has free will, one can deny the union because the emotional aspect can be too overwhelming. All issues need to come up for healing and this is what can cause the relationship to be so difficult and lengthy. Often too one twin may still be entrenched in other karmic relationships. The Difference Between Soul Mates and Twin Souls

People often confuse the terms soul mate and twin soul/twin flame.
They are not the same thing.
Soul mates are key relationships we experience within this lifetime and in lifetimes lived before. These can include friendships, romances, professional affiliations and many other types of relationships. Edgar Cayce often referred in his readings to soul groups, which are groups of people who incarnate together, over and over again. This means my present child might have been my parent in another lifetime. My lover might have been my sister. My parent might have been my teacher. And so on and so forth.
Both you and your soul group slip in and out of key roles from lifetime to lifetime in order to help all souls within the group learn valuable lessons. Usually at the beginning of new incarnations each soul within the group draws up sacred contracts or agreements, and these contracts include scenarios the souls will play out on their own and with each other in order to learn these lessons. The members of this group, then, are soul mates. Each and every one of us is a part of a soul group.
Twin souls are also called twin flames, and are a different matter entirely. For the purposes of this article we will refer to these relationships as twin flame relationships. Some feel that we only have one twin flame. This has nothing to do with lifetimes; we do not change twin flames from lifetime to lifetime: we always have the same one.
There is a complete and unshakable recognition of the twin when it occurs. The attraction and communion is undeniable, unbreakable and unconditional. These relationships are not without conflict of course, but all conflict between twin flames can and will be resolved. It is the purpose of both souls to spend their lives (and lifetimes) together, and once a person encounters their twin flame that is precisely what they will do.
Plato asserts through the character Aristophanes in Symposium that "in the beginning" each individual was actually two, with two sets of arms (therefore four), two sets of legs (therefore four) and two sets of genitalia (therefore two). The gods, fearing these humans would somehow overpower them, decided essentially to split them apart. Plato's idea in this regard, while steeped in mythology and evocative fictional imagery, is not too far off the mark in terms of how some presently believe.
It is thought that we were created with a double. It is thought that we, doubled, were indeed separated at some point in the creation process, and that our split-apart is ever seeking us out. Like the pull of a magnet, we are inextricably and completely drawn to them, whether through dimensions or lifetimes. When we arrive at the discovery of this twin, the connection cannot be severed.
Does everyone have a soul mate? Not only is the answer yes, but the answer is yes -- everyone has many soul mates.
Does everyone have a twin flame? That is subject to belief and interpretation.
Personally, I believe that each person does have a twin flame, though I am not sure I subscribe to the method of their creation (being created in doubles and then split apart, etc.). Rather, I feel that each and every one of us does in fact have one truly special and important relationship that stands above all other relationships. We may not always meet our twin flame in each incarnation, but the connection itself never dies.
Is our twin flame the opposite sex (or same sex if we are homosexual)? Again, no one can be sure. My ultimate thought is that this relationship can be any relationship -- be it friendship, parent-child, lover -- yet due to the intense intimacy involved in love relationships, we are likely to encounter them as lovers.
Irrespective, while soul mate and soul group connections are indeed very important and integral to our spiritual development, the twin flame connection is the most significant relationship we will ever experience.

Twin Flames, the Encounter and It's True Purpose

Twin flames or twin souls are souls who were created by splitting the two divine energies. Masculine energy and Feminine energy. The two souls upon reincarnation hold not identical but complimentary energies. Not everyone out here has a twin soul. Many are born whole and complete with balanced energies.
Twin flames are a minority, just like birth twins. They usually feel isolated and never realise why. They feel not only their emotions but their twin soul's as well. They sometimes feel alone in a crowded room, sometimes sad and lost for no reason. The life they lead although fascinating and normal from outside observers, is quite a challenge without their true half.
They brave up and lead double lives. One with their surroundings and one by themselves. They believe that this is normal way of living. Sometimes they feel scared that if found out, they will be labeled insane. They feel incomplete and lost.
They do lead a very fulfilling and loving life most of the time, but however, at times, get reminded that they are still incomplete, that something major is missing.
They have reincarnated with a very challenging task on hand which is to find balance, to find wholeness and completion without their true half. They are here to create a third energy, the energy of unconditional love. Normal human love does not fulfill as they know and understand love differently.
Some twins don't even reincarnate together, sometimes one twin has ascended from earth plane while one twin remains on earth to fulfill their mission. However if both twins have reincarnated on earth, destiny does bring them together for the initial recognition and the separation follows as it is only through separation they will be forced to look deep within to heal on all levels and to achieve completion on their own. Like they were destined to.
The bond between the twins does not need time or experiences, it does not even need a relationship. It just exists and will exist no matter what. Trying to fight it or deny it will just cause you more pain and confusion. It will hold no comparison to your normal human relationship as this relationship exists between the complimentary energies and holds a deeper purpose.
The purpose of a human relationship is to give and receive love and to add to evolution by creating lives. It's for survival and to form community and society. The purpose of the Twin flame relationship however is to bring forward divine love energy for humanity. To be of service in ascending the world to higher way of loving. To bring love back to its true form, which is unconditional so humans can begin to live in love and not in fear.
They are feeling the deepest emotions, the deepest longing so they can call forth real love. They go through this pain to allow us to stop feeling love and hate and start feeling love and more love. This longing is seeking merger of the two complimentary energies.
The twin with the female energy is like a flowing river that takes over every form and looses herself in giving, she feels alone because she doesn't know how to differentiate herself or be an individual. Her challenge will be to find balance with the male energy so she can give and love without losing herself. She needs to master becoming an individual.
On the other hand the twin with the male energy which is strong, individualised and aggressive will need to find balance with the female energy so he can feel and give selflessly a well. He will need to master giving and loving selflessly.
This longing disappears only when these two energies are balanced within each twin. The twins than become their whole selves, the need to complete each other is over.
They become two strong, whole and complete individuals ready to emanate love. The third energy has been created. The mission completed. They have found themselves.
It's like ascending without dieing. Like they are born again but this time more evolved. With great wisdom and great strength. They posses the power to lead and the power to heal.

Hierarchy of Soul Mates and Twin Souls

There are basic categories of soul-connections that can be identified. We recognize them because of the role the souls play in each others lives and the energy underlying the connection.
Even as I write this, I do so for the purpose of helping you understand that not all soul-relationships are supposed to last an earth life of forever nor are they meant to be a feel good experience in many cases. We experience soul-mates for the primary purpose of helping us remember who WE are and to further our spiritual awakening while in these human bodies. There are numerous soul-encounters that can happen in our lives; this is simply an attempt to clarify the major categories.
Kindred Spirit:
While not actually related at the soul-level, we feel warm, comfortable and quickly at ease with these people. We share a profound mutual understanding of people and situations based on our similar soul age, spiritual values, and most likely metaphysical abilities. We energetically vibrate at a similar level, yet do not have the familial ties as with a member of our soul-family.
Primary: Parent, child, relative, friend
Primary soul-mates stay the course with us for years, often a lifetime. We experience the ebb and flow of life together. While these relationships have ups and downs they are about teaching us how to forgive, to love in a sustainable way- not for what someone can give us but for exactly who they are; faults and all (parents and siblings for example). These souls teach us about acceptance in a universal way. Over time we realize that we have chosen each other for lessons that could have come no other way. It is essential that you forgive these souls for any trauma they caused you. It is critical for your own health, but in terms of hierarchy of soul mates, you will never draw to you a high level soul mate until you have completely forgiven all primary soul mates.
Junior Soul Mate: Teacher, friend, person in line at the store, pal you meet on vacation
These souls might fulfill their role in an instant, or can be with you for a period of time. They won't stay with you long, but you will probably never forget them. These souls may say something to you that changes the course of your life. Their impact is powerful and there is no ability to ignore the prompt they bring you. If what they teach you "stings" at first, it will become one of those lessons you are most grateful for after you reach a certain level of spiritual awareness.
Karmic Partner:
Romantic partner, friend, fling
Ready set go with these. There is instant recognition. If it is a romantic relationship, the physical chemistry is intense. It is intense enough that the souls may choose to enjoy the physical expression while ignoring the little voice that says "there are issues here". These relationships burn intensely and typically end on terms that are unpleasant. These relationships are designed to teach major lessons that can only be taught by someone we love. When these relationships end, it's often one sided or out of anger rather than a slow fizzle. The person being "left" learns resiliency amongst other things and there could be many reasons why the leaver leaves; but they must learn how to end a relationship with mutual respect rather than an unexplained departure. If they don't learn this (either party), they will continue these kinds of relationships in this lifetime & the next until they learn the valuable lessons that ONLY these connections can teach. The sting of these breakups whether romantic or from someone you felt certain would be your friend forever can be devastating. This category of soul-mate bond is designed to teach you more about yourself than anything in your life to date. If you learn what is intended, you are preparing at the soul level for a High Level Soul Mate.
Karmic Companion: Friend, romantic partner, parent/child
There is not a lot of drama in these relationships. You've worked through most of your karma with these souls in prior lives. These relationships feel like a break from the intensity of other kinds of soul relationships. That can be a welcome change! They are based on friendship rather than passion. Certainly you will have some ups and downs and disagreements, but the overall purpose is that of companionship. The lessons in these relationships progress over time rather than being shoved down your throat. Karmic Companions can share any length of physical time together. A romantic or friendship Karmic Companion can last a lifetime; however if you separate things generally fizzle out rather than end suddenly. You will sense it's time to move on. There is a sense of maturity - "It is time we go our separate ways" and you will wish the best for your partner. It's a very "mature feeling" soul-mate bond.
Senior or High-Level Soul Mate
Romantic partner
Like meeting a Karmic Soul-Mate there is usually instant recognition- through the energy field or through the eyes. The desire to be with and truly know the other person at the soul level is intense. Partners at this level feel such joy to have discovered each other. It is often said there is a feeling of "coming home". There is deep and abiding friendship. The partners are willing to sacrifice something for themselves to benefit their mate. They discover that their mates completeness seems to mean as much as their own... yet they experience that without dismissing their own growth or happiness. There is a perfect and easy balance of "Me/You/Us". When problems to arise- and they will because we're human- the partners have the soul/mind tools to quickly rectify the situation and return to a place of harmony. These are ways in which you'll recognize the difference between a Senior Soul-Mate and a Karmic Soul-Mate. Partners at this level have learned to balance the need to remain self with the skills necessary to be a soul-based team.
Twin Flame- Two Souls Created From the Same Energetic Unit- Your Souls Most Complementary Partner
There is not always instant recognition. Twin Flame recognition occurs at the energetic/soul level rather than at the physical, although physical attraction typically follows. There is a compulsion toward each other that exceeds anything either has experienced in the past. It defies logic or rational thought. The Twins have trouble making eye contact at the beginning. That is because they have knowledge of everything about the other simply by looking into the eyes. This is a major responsibility and it is sensed by both parties. While a Senior Soul Mate can be recognized through the eyes, a Twin Flame perceives everything about their Twin through the eyes. There are elements unique to a Twin Flame pair that do not exist in other soul-connections. While all soul-mate relationships serve to further the spiritual growth of the individuals, Twin Flames meet for a purpose beyond the individual.
They must join their energy/souls to bring light, love and healing to the planet and its inhabitants. When these two unite, there is an exponential explosion of energy that is greater than the sum of the individual parts. Being presented your Twin Flame is the ultimate spiritual responsibility and should not be belittled by romanticizing the nature of the work to be done by the Twins.
