2012 Predictions and Prophecies - A Critical Look at Mayan Predictions and 2012 Skeptics

A gentleman in my online community emailed me, asking for my comments on a skeptic's view of some 2012 predictions and prophecies. Sometimes I agree with the skeptics, other times I don't; it all depends on the details of the claims being made. For example, if someone predicted that a comet was going to strike this planet on December 21, 2012 (or, for that matter, anytime in the foreseeable future), I'd be a skeptic, too.

I find that both proponents and skeptics of the idea that something important and unique will happen around December 21, 2012 are guilty of careless claims and logic as well as inadequate research.

For example, the author of the online article on Mayan predictions at The Skeptic's Dictionary (skepdic.com/maya) that I was asked to comment on stated that the Mayan calendar is not predictive, and I agree with him. But that's not what's interesting or important about the Mayan calendar anyway.

It's important to realize that when a prediction about something is made, most people just sit on their behinds waiting for that something to happen. Or else they may use that knowledge to try to get an edge on the stock market or some other such thing--which is not what 2012 is about!

What it is about is personal growth and spiritual evolution, and we all know that doesn't come so easy. So the fact that nobody knows exactly what will happen in 2012 is brilliant (not even the Mayan elders know)--because not knowing actually serves a useful (and divine) purpose. (So... please read all 2012 predictions and prophecies with inner discernment, the discernment of your higher self.)

However, by delving into the details of the exact nature of the 2012 alignment (that will occur between the Milky Way's equatorial axis and a particular axis of the Earth), I discovered some valuable guiding information that promises a positive outcome for humanity--backed by solid science conducted at astronomical institutes, no less. Furthermore, this complicated astronomy can be simplified and pictures can be drawn so even those who flunked high school science can understand that there will be a "cross" in the heavens on December 21, 2012 and that this cross represents a "crossroads" in our spiritual direction and evolution. This cross in the sky (where the Earth points towards galactic light) happens once every roughly 26,000 years.

The details of this alignment (and its implications) cannot be adequately expressed in a short article, that's why I wrote a couple chapters in an e-book on this topic. It's important to examine the details, not ignore or gloss over them. I suppose that just like the rest of us 2012 skeptics lead busy lives and can't be bothered to do their due research. I also suspect their minds are way too set to discover anything new of any significance.

The other idea this skeptic tries to disprove is Guatemalan anthropologist Carlos Barrios's claim that the Mayans were prophets who used their calendar to predict the coming of Cortez's ships in 1519. According to Barrios, writes the skeptic, Easter Sunday, April 21, 1519 was a day that marked a return of the Mayan's ancestors, "coming like butterflies" on the sea, and the natives were "waiting and watching to see how it would go." (The skeptic makes fun of Barrios's reference to butterflies.)

But I doubt it was the butterfly effect of Cortez's ships that mesmerized the natives; rather, it was the crosses on their ships.

That's because the Mayans were already familiar with the symbol of the cross (sometimes called the "solar cross"). The cross in the heavens is what their long count calendar was based on. (Remember that the Mayans were obsessed with their calendars.) The cross symbolized a particular alignment of our earth and solar system with respect to the Milky Way galaxy.

On yet another level, the cross symbolized a new phase in their future. The Mayans must have been aware that they were going into a new phase of their development and evolution (a "crossroad") that they had all agreed to on the inner, subconscious level (and the ancestors they were awaiting were those back from the days of Atlantis). So of course they'd be curious about what that future would bring. That's why they almost just submitted themselves to the inevitable.

And now the alignment that happens in 2012 has a unique meaning for the future of the people on this planet.

So, please read about 2012 predictions and prophecies with inner discernment, remember that the details are critical, and strive to strengthen your own inner discernment by reconnecting and integrating with your higher self. Why Children With Autism Refuse to Make Eye Contact - Understanding Autism - A Clairvoyant's View

*********************************************

The eyes are "the windows into the soul." When an adult avoids making eye contact, at that moment, he or she is often judged as "dishonest." An autistic child is different only in that his or her dishonesty is frequent and extreme.

Baby psychology and parent psychology are interconnected. The subconscious dimension is the truer and most influential dimension of our humanness. There is no understanding autism and the true causes of autism without understanding this key fact.

The autistic children that I have clairvoyantly read and reported about usually had a variety of reasons for not making eye contact with the people around them. The most basic reason was that they were being defiant. They were being dishonest and knew they were being defiant and did not want "the outside world" to see what they were truly thinking and feeling.

One might call this condition a "psychological disability," but, in truth, it was a subconscious and conscious, "willful defiance" of how the autistic children knew they should be. Many autistic children, if not all, felt guilty about their "autistic behaviors."

The children with autism whom I observed consciously knew that much of their behavior was wrong. Refusing to make eye contact was one of several favorite behaviors many opted to indulge-in.

Not to make eye contact was usually a conscious decision, unlike not speaking, which was mainly a subconsciously decided and a subconsciously orchestrated abnormality. Those mute children with autism consciously believed that they did not have the ability to speak. Their "inability" seemed due to totally subconscious choices.

The children with autism in my studies knew they had the ability to look into the eyes of another person and make eye contact. It was often difficult and emotionally painful and most did not understand why it was so difficult. Nonetheless, it was a conscious choice that they knew they were making.

Here are some experiences of the children and teens with autism who I clairvoyantly studied:

o "Oliver" would eye check a teacher when he sensed there might be a "perceived reward." He would not eye check other children because he thought if he did so there was something being said by each child during that eye contact. He did not want that kind of intimacy and believed that he could get away with more if he did not make eye contact.

o "Andria" was in much mental and emotional pain and felt isolated. She was trying to push through her resistance to making eye contact. However, that resistance was of her own subconscious making, nevertheless, she was consciously striving to push through and make eye contact when asked to do so. She wanted to cooperate, but it was extremely distressing for her.

o A teenager, "David," increasingly determined that he would not make eye contact. He certainly could because I saw him deliberately choosing not to do it. He did not want his parents and caretakers to see how he felt about them. He thought his life would be in jeopardy if they knew what he was thinking and feeling. In addition, he was hoping his perceptions about his parents were wrong, but he was right. What he was seeing about his parents' deepest thoughts and feelings about him were true as far as I could see.

o It was a tremendous emotional strain for a teenage girl to interact and make eye contact. It was also a physical strain because of her strong resistance to communicating being and present to her circumstances. When she attempted those things it became overwhelming, her skin actually felt raw and she experienced an intense physical pressure. The experience became a struggle between her conscious self and wanting to please her parents and caretakers, and her stronger subconscious decision not to be present to her situations.

o "Tommy" knew that he should make eye contact so he pretended to do that by not focusing his eyes and not actually looking at people.

Choices to avoid eye contact are essentially choices not to be honest, not to reach out, not to communicate, and not to give. They are selfish reactions. They are willful choices that the child does not have to make.

Making eye contact would be a great help to the autistic child's mental and emotional life and his or her entire inner world. When the child refuses to do this, he or she feels isolated with little sense of reality. If children with autism would make consistent choices to make eye contact, those choices could be the beginning of a path out of their reaction, isolation, and pain. []

2012 End of World - Safest Places to Hide

Where are you going to go when the 2012 end of world doomsday, unfortunately, comes to fruition? Where will you be hiding? How are you going to determine the best places that can provide shelter for you, in the face of volcanoes, earthquakes, tsunamis and other deadly catastrophes? Have you ever thought of that? If you haven't, then by 2012 you'll most probably be dead. But don't worry! This article contains the five safe places you can go to just in case the world turns crazy and spins out of control.

The 2012 end of world doomsday is only three years away and panic has ensued in most areas worldwide. Many fear that it will be the end. If the environmental prophecies come true there are some "safe havens" that could remain intact during the havoc.

5th Safest Place on the Planet: The Himalayas

The obvious reason for this is that it is the highest location on Earth, so any threat of tsunami or volcanic activity is instantly shut down. However, there is one, itsy bitsy tiny catch: how to get there. Only the best of veteran mountain climbers have ever gotten the chance to step on top of the entire world, and many people died climbing Mount Everest, so our chances of even surviving just traveling to this survival location is very little. This could have been easily the top safest place on the planet if not for the accessibility issue.

4th Safest Place on the Planet: China

China as a nation is well high above sea level, has more than ample resources and manpower to build many survival bunkers, and isn't prone to seismic or volcanic activity. Some of China is also landlocked, which means very little chance for water-related catastrophes to occur. Of course, we're talking about 2012 end of world doomsday here, a lot of things can happen, but on a theoretical level, China is one of the safest countries to live in on Earth should it be destroyed.

3rd Safest Place on the Planet: Sierra Nevada

Europe on 2012 is a very miserable place: it will sink in water, has extensive nuclear facilities that could blow off together, and has very many volcanoes, a few with the most destructive effects ever. Sierra Nevada, a southern mountain range known for its skiing sites, is a paradise for those seeking apocalyptic safety in Europe. It has high peaks, reachable by road, and can provide for adequate shelter and materials for comfortable living amidst the catastrophes abound. Unfortunately, the higher areas are either popular ski resorts or government-owned property, and most of these lands are very expensive to acquire. But it is still a viable place to live in for those who are in Europe and is preparing for the 2012 end of world doomsday.

2nd Safest Place on the Planet: Arizona, USA

Yep, you read that right. Many people think that USA is going to be totally obliterated come December 21, 2012, but the thing is the country's position has been diagnosed collectively, not state-to-state. Arizona, in this regard, is considered the safest place in the USA for an apocalypse. Arizona contains many highlands, which will be the safest place should a pole shift occur, and add to that the fact that it's in America, a country that will be looked upon for help by other countries.

THE SAFEST PLACE ON THE PLANET: Africa

Nobody can ever question this penultimate truth. Africa has been, and is still is, the safest place on the planet. It is the most stable continent, unchanged for millions of years, and it has shifted very little compared to the other continents. Africa has the least number of fault lines and has a negligible volcano count. Though not every place in Africa is conducive for survival, all you need to find are African plains with altitudes 2,300 meters above sea level to be assured of safety.

Geographically, Africa may very well be paradise here on Earth. The biggest drawback is that Africa as a continent is immensely underdeveloped. It has poor infrastructure, has inadequate means of transportation and is home to fatal diseases such as leprosy, malaria and cholera. If someone wants to prepare Africa for the 2012 end of world events, he couldn't do so in time. Add to that the pressure of current political instability in some disputing nations; the viability of Africa becomes lower. But just as it is, if people unite to truly conquer 2012 and set aside differences and prejudices, Africa can become the very cradle of a new civilization that is destined to grow after the whole world suffers the damages of the 2012 end of world Armageddon.

The Reincarnation of James Huston

I could not begin to count the number of times over the years I have heard stories about young people with seemingly psychological traumas (including innate fears and recurring nightmares) that to students of the Edgar Cayce materials would appear to be reincarnation-based. Unfortunately, almost without exception, these young people are simply treated with medications and psychotherapy in an effort to stop "the problem."

Because an understanding of reincarnation and the way in which memory transfers from one incarnation to the next has yet to enter into our mainstream world view there has not been an openness to look at these issues from the perspective of the soul rather than simply from the perspective of the mind. That is until now. The story of downed World War II pilot James Huston reincarnating in our contemporary time as James Leininger may do much to change the way in which parents and health care providers look at fear, reoccurring nightmares, and the journey of the soul.

Recounted in Soul Survivor: The Reincarnation of a World War II Fighter Pilot is the story of two-year-old James Leininger who began having repetitive and horrific nightmares about a man who was stuck in a plane that was on fire, crashing toward the water. He began drawing pictures of the scene - an event that shaped many of his waking thoughts. He told his parents that the man had been shot down. When they asked by whom, the child appeared stunned by their ignorance and replied, "The Japanese."

The child stated that he had been the man in the plane and provided extensive details about the man, his name, James Huston, the ship he was from and the individuals who had served with him. In time, his parents tracked down both family and surviving servicemen who had known James Huston, and little James Leininger provided specific information that could have only been known by Huston. The Japanese even invited young Leininger to return to the place where his plane had been downed more than 60 years ago. The impressiveness of the tale has caused the Leininger story to be picked up by media throughout the country, from ABC's Primetime to Fox News.

For me, the story of James Leininger is a refreshing reminder that we are eternal spiritual beings having ongoing physical experiences in a process of personal growth and enlightenment. There is no doubt in my mind that stories like this will become more commonplace and more accepted, for we are on the verge of a global shift in perception and consciousness - a shift that will lead us to truly understand our connection to one another and our relationship with the Divine. After all, when the workings of reincarnation become the world view then all the things that divide us - whether religion, or power, or ideology or differences of any kind - will simply fade away.

Legends and Metaphysical Properties of Larimar

This blue form of the mineral pectolite is believed to have been affected by volcanic ash thousands of years ago, giving it the unusual blue sheen. Larimar is one of the most complete healing stones in my opinion; if you choose only one stone to carry or wear, consider this one.

Larimar is found only on the island of Hispaniola in the Dominican Republic, where it is becoming scarce. There is little historical reference to it prior to the early 1900s, so it is not known whether the native Taino culture of the island used the stone or not. Crystal energy experts report that this stone is amazingly tuned into the energies of the human body, making it an outstanding healing tool. I personally agree with this, and carry a Larimar with me at all times, especially for its calming nature.

Here is the list of Larimar's many properties, and information on its other names below.

-Calming stress, anxiety
-brings calm and serenity to its wearer
-unites the head and thoughts with the heart and emotions
-helps one to experience an open mind in the face of change
-stone of answers and truths
-aids communication - also with dolphins and sea creatures
-represents and supports peace, clarity, healing, and love
-protective stone against negative energy
-heals on all levels: emotional, physical, mental, spiritual
-a true all around healing stone, but is especially helpful for the thymus, thyroid, and immune system
-balances and empowers the 3rd eye, crown, throat and heart chakras
-contains the program to channel healing energies to the Earth
-soul mate stone-draws ones soul mate
-relationships -releases karmic negativity between couples
-healing for muscles, reduces pain
-softens and enlightens ones perspective
- reputed to draw customers to businesses and salespeople

Larimar was known as Atlantis Stone for many years through the 1980s in Europe, and continues to carry that name in many circles today. The ties to Atlantis stem to a degree from the predictions of the late Edgar Cayce to coincide with the "rising" of Atlantis. Cayce predicted a blue healing stone would be discovered in this century on a Caribbean island, just as Larimar was. Many people with interests in and energetic connections to Atlantis are able to feel energies, detect and sometimes decipher information from that lost civilization in Larimar.

Dolphin Stone is another popular name for Larimar, perhaps because of the lovely marine mammals' association with Atlantis, or the fact that many practitioners use Larimar as a tool to enhance communication with sea creatures. Whats interesting is that this stone often exhibits patterns with dolphins, angels, and Greek columns, as well as other easily recognized images.

Edgar Cayce and A Simple Meditation Method

We must be clear that meditation is an altered state of consciousness. It is not a method for getting our normal consciousness to feel better. "You don't have the meditation because ... you want to feel better, but to attune self to the infinite!" We must set our normal, everyday selves aside and allow our deeper, spiritual selves to attune to the Infinite. This is perhaps the most fundamental and yet the most difficult requirement of meditation. But it can be done. The body, mind and soul are interconnected in such a way that certain actions will automatically lead to "the magic silence" and the awakening of our better selves.

Actions that Lead Inward

We have two nervous systems. One (the Central Nervous System) we use mostly for our outer life -- for acting consciously in the physical. The other (the Autonomic) governs those functions such as breathing and digestion that are taken care of without our conscious participation.

What do these two nervous systems have to do with successful meditation? When we quiet the outer system and do something to stimulate the inner system, we are setting aside our outer selves and actually activating our souls. For example, let's sit down and stop using our musculo-skeletal systems. Let's reduce our sense-perception by closing down our five senses -- close our eyes, stop touching, listening, smelling and tasting. This quiets the outer system and the outer self. Now, let's take hold of some part of the inner system that the soul has charge of and let's alter it. The most popular one is the breath. The autonomic system, under the control of the subconscious mind and soul, is in charge of and directly connected to the breath. If we start changing the breath, we cause the soul and subconscious mind to become alert to the changes. This is an action that leads from our outer selves to our inner selves, and ultimately to an altered state of consciousness.

Physical Changes

Now we know from the research done in the '70s with TM meditators and others, that the body goes through many changes during meditation. As researchers Wallace and Benson discovered, meditation causes measurable physical changes. "There is a reduction in oxygen consumption, carbon dioxide elimination and the rate and volume of respiration; a slight increase in the acidity of the arterial blood; a marked decrease in the blood-lactate level; a slowing of the heartbeat; a considerable increase in skin resistance; and an electroencephalogram pattern of intensification of slow alpha waves with occasional theta-wave activity" (Wallace & Benson, 1973, p. 266).

Reading 5752-3 expands on the wonderful changes: "Meditate ... in the inner secrets of the consciousness, and the cells in the body become aware of the awakening of the life...." The cells of the body become aware? According to the readings, every cell in the body has consciousness, and that consciousness may be raised or lowered. The reading goes on, "In the mind, the cells of the mind become aware of the life in the spirit." The cells of the mind, life in the spirit? Interesting concepts, aren't they? "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must do so in spirit...." Then, if raising the consciousness leads to awareness of "life in the spirit," it leads to life with God -- the Great Spirit. The wonderful thing about this whole process is that we activate it by entering into the magic silence.

The Magic Silence

For those of you who are just beginning with meditation or who have always had trouble meditating, let me spend a moment to describe this very simple yet effective way to meditate. Then, as you progress with it, you can move on to Kundalini Meditation. The Magic Silence method is a simple yet powerful way for anyone to get into meditation -- especially beginners and those who have difficulty meditating.

Using a combination of an affirmation and a mantra, coordinated with our breathing, we can enter into the magic silence. Let's use a modification of a line from Psalm 46, "Be still and know God." In order to fully succeed with this affirmation/mantra, not only do we need the power of the words, we must also take hold of the breath and create a breathing pattern that arouses the soul. It works like this: "Be STILL" [inhale slowly while feeling the word "still" and then exhale slowly] "and "Know GOD" [inhale slowly while feeling the word "God" and then exhale slowly]. Once you begin to "feel" the reality of these word "Still" and "God", let the breath go on automatic and abide in the feeling. If anything distracts you or feel you want to go deeper into the words, then repeat the deep inhalation and exhalation while saying the phrases. Keep the breath relaxed yet under your control.

If you are in the "stillness" or the "Godness" between the phrases, remain in it as long as your consciousness holds there, breathing gently and evenly. If your consciousness wanders, then bring it back by saying (in your mind) one of the phrases and re-engaging the deep inhalation and exhalation cycle.

The silent periods while feeling the power of essence of these words and their meaning are the more important parts of this practice. The phrases gather and direct the consciousness, and the spaces of silence are golden, or as the readings say, "magical." So, as long as you are silent and still, stay there; don't feel a need to move on to the next phrase or to continue repeating the phrases. Abide in the powerful stillnes and godliness.

This method of combining an affirmation/mantra with breathing will bring even the weakest meditator into a deep stillness and a heightened sense of Godness.

To move deeper, add three "OM's" on the end of the last phrase: "Be STILL [feel and breathe], and know GOD [feel and breathe], OOOMMMM [feel and breathe] OOOMMMM [feel and breathe] OOOMMMM [feel and breathe]. This can be out loud in the beginning and then silently in your mind as you go deeper. When chanting the OM incantation aloud, remember that true chanting is an inner sounding, not an outer singing. (You can hear what this inner resonating sounds like on my audiotape "Tips on Meditation.") Keep the sound resonating within the cavities of your body. Beginning with the abdominal cavity, rising to the pulmonary cavity and then on into the cranial cavity, let the sound carry you deeper.

I've taught this method to people who have never meditated before, had them in a deep silence for twenty minutes, and watched them coming out of it with that wonderful glaze in their eyes that results from an altered state. Their outer self is moved, yet uncertain as to exactly what has happened. But they know they have just meditated well. I've also had people who had tried meditation for years with little success come out of one of these sessions with the biggest smiles on their faces -- victory at last!

Keys to This Method

There are three keys to this method. First, the power of the words "still" and "God," and their effect on us. Second, the connection between the breath and the soul -- allowing us to arouse our souls by taking hold of the breathing pattern. Third, the spaces of silence between the words while breathing. These spaces grow longer and longer as one practices. Eventually, an hour's meditation is easy (and recommended in the readings). According to the readings, and many other sources, the silence is in itself transforming. One need not "do" or "hear" anything when in meditation. Abide in the silence and it works its magic.

Now I would like us to look at another area of the total meditation picture. I would not recommend going on to this next practice (kundalini meditation) until you have practiced the Magic Silence method with much success, and feel you are ready to go deeper. As with medicine so it is with meditation: one person's poison may be another's cure, and activities that may be harmful at one stage in life may be quite helpful at another. You have to judge what is best for you now, and continue to evaluate your readiness as you progress.

It may appear contradictory to say that silence is in itself transforming and then to describe another form of meditation in which inner activities are used to effect greater transformation, but such is the case with the Cayce readings, and other sources. The explanation for this is that the manifold nature of full enlightenment and transformation is such that contradiction and paradox are elements of any method. After all, we are dealing with celestial beings in terrestrial forms, spirits in flesh, gods who are also human, eternal beings in temporary manifestations. Paradox and contradiction are bound to be a part of any process that attempts to resolve or integrate these.

Furthermore, as we progress with our development, we naturally become more able to handle complexity and intricacy. We become more aware of and participate in the many aspects of the Godhead, the Universal Consciousness, with all its diversity.

Edgar Cayce's Apple Diet

One of the most popular and well-known health recommendations in the Edgar Cayce readings is the apple diet. But make no mistake, Cayce did not intend this three-day regimen to be a weight-loss strategy. The "diet" was recommended as a detox or purification routine that could make one feel more energetic and vital in a short period of time. It was particularly noted as a way to alkalize one's system and help relieve oneself of chronic aches and pains. Overall, the apple diet seems to be almost a must for us all a few times a year, if for no other reason than it quite thoroughly cleanses and detoxifies the system.

Searching the Cayce readings on "apple diet" yields a mere twenty-four documents. Interesting that it has become one of the most well-known and applied of the Cayce "remedies." I attribute this to the fact that it is an "easy" routine to follow and IT WORKS! Through the decades I believe that Cayce's apple diet has enjoyed a tremendous amount of word-of-mouth endorsement from one individual to another. I personally do the apple diet three to four times a year. I actually enjoy the mental discipline it requires - and the feeling of health and "lightness" that results.

The first step in the diet is to get your apples! The readings identified the "jenneting" varieties of apples to be best for the routine. Two easily obtained apples within this category are Jonathan and Delicious. As I wrote this article, I decided to do a little research on "jenneting." What exactly does the term mean? Basically these apples are those that ripen early in the season. The term jenneting is derived from the name Jean or John and is so named because these apples ripen on or before St. John's Day, June 24! I love tidbits of information like this as much as apples!

The readings actually state that raw apples should always be eaten alone - never with other foods and never in conjunction with castor oils packs (some people have come to believe the opposite through misinformation - so please heed this admonition). As you can see from this quote, it's an important one: " Do not attempt to use the Apple Diet as a cleanser, if using the Oil Packs." (543-27)

Basically, the diet is simple. Three days of apples (the right apples as mentioned above), plenty of water, and rest. Here's one reading on the apple diet:

"It would be well for this body, even after this, to have a three-day apple diet, even in its weakened condition we need to clear the system. For this will get rid of the tendencies for neuritic conditions in the joints of the body. Also take the Olive Oil after the three-day diet. But don't go without the apples - eat them - all you can - at least five or six apples each day. Chew them up, scrape them well. Drink plenty of water, and follow the three-day diet with the big dose of Olive Oil." (1409-9)

The dose of olive oil is at the end of the diet. Two to three teaspoons is the general recommendation. Cold-pressed olive oil is much more palatable, so you should be sure to have that available. If you are on an oil-restricted diet, you can extend the apples for four to five days. I have never done this myself, but I imagine that the results would be quite noticeable and effective.

As mentioned above, rest is important during the apple diet. A "regular Apple Diet would be well for the body - but don't try to work like a horse when you are on the Apple Diet! or else we will find it will be more detrimental than helpful!" (307-14)

What to Expect

Most people report that the first day is the most challenging in terms of appetite for other foods. A few others seem to feel a bit more challenged on the second day. Just about everyone, however, reports that on day three the feeling of lightness and energy is well worth the effort. So, here's to your health. Let us know your experiences and results.
