The Incredible Secret of Sacred Geometry - What Makes it Sacred, and What Does That Cause?

Sacred geometry is a term that is used to describe a type of geometry that is based on proportions or ratios that are found throughout nature and the universe, thus enabling mathematicians to figure out the laws or formulas that come from these "hidden codes within nature." These codes are then often called golden, as in golden rectangle or golden spiral. Golden means that these shapes are based on universal proportions, which are summed up under a mathematical term called the golden ratio of phi. So with these phi proportions in hand, one can easily build furniture, houses, buildings, temples, and gigantic pantheons, as long as all the geometry is measured from these proportions. But why build according to these golden means, and what difference does it make? The answer is nothing short of amazing.

If you take a wood board and cut it up into several rectangles, of which one rectangle is golden (cut according to the phi ratio), and then throw all these wooden pieces out in the back yard, and let them rot for a year, you will find that the rectangle that was cut according to the golden proportion is far less deteriorated than all the other boards that were cut haphazardly. This is because, when an object is designed with the phi proportions, it takes on a subtle, but universal force that strengthens the object. The entire universe is built on these same phi principles, and as above, so below, this cosmic current sometimes called telluric or etheric, then 'inhabits' a phi proportioned object far far greater than something built without sacred geometry.

This geometry of golden ratios will help you understand why the master Masons who built the monumental cathedrals, knew far more than just methods of civil and structural engineering. Their knowledge of etheric energy and how it can be 'maneuvered' or built into their structures was always the primary goal of the cathedrals, not religion. In other words, once you enter a cathedral, you will instantly feel something different, though it is difficult to describe. And underneath the dome is where the greatest concentration of this primal spiritual energy manifests. To state this fact simply, the entire reason for building these great cathedrals was for the massive accumulation of universal etheric energy and the spiritual upliftment of humanity. The practice of religion was a secondary activity to get the masses into the cathedrals in the first place.

Can the study of sacred geometry have a role in modern society? Well, the engineers at Boeing Aircraft decided to build an entire line of jets based on golden geometry and today they still have the record of the Boeing 747 as the safest airplane ever built, thus again showing that the use of the phi proportion not only creates the strongest structure possible, but it also greatly lengthens the longevity of objects as seen in golden mean aqueducts, temples, pantheons, and cathedrals still standing in various countries of Europe today after 1000 years.

Andrew Shimanoff has been a high end custom woodworker for over 25 years. He has studied various aspects of geometry and its use in traditional buildings throughout Europe. Currently, he uses sacred geometry in his artwork, using wood as his medium.
