The 2012 Meteor - Myth Or Impending Reality?

It is not a rare thing these days to talk about the year 2012 and the apocalyptic event that may take place. There have been quite a decent crowd of people out there who somehow believe in the possibility of doomsday or the end of the course of the human race when they approach the year 2012. The Mayan calendar supports this theory, at least that is what people think. It is said that the 2012 meteor is what will be the main cause for human extinction. It is said that the 2012 meteor is quite likely to be a big one and when it happens to hit this planet Earth, people feel pretty sure that there will be a major change in the world or people's lives.

It is quite an inevitable fact that asteroids or meteors happen to collide with the Earth at times. But will those asteroids or meteors really trigger the extinction of the human race? Well, this may be one thing that there are still quite a lot of people out there doubting about. This is understandable. If we look back some years before today, it is very seldom the case that any asteroid or meteor, even if they happen to collide with Earth, would kill people. What often takes place is in fact those asteroids or meteors would fall somewhere on the outskirts of town, somewhere right in the middle of some corn field, somewhere that nobody exists or lives and so forth. So, by keeping this fact regarding previous meteors in mind, can we believe that the 2012 meteor is going to be a distinctive one?

There are even a number of people who mention that the government only possesses a small number of workers into this issue. It is even said that the number of workers only equals to the number of workers in one McDonald's outlet.

Yet, apart from the 2012 meteor, people were also worried about similar issues some years back then. However, these issues were not proven. They did not take place as expected. The meteors did not happen to fall to the Earth. However, still, there are a lot of people who believe that things will be different with regards to the 2012 meteor. However, some people believe that even if any of the predicted meteors happened to fall into Earth, people were not informed in order to avoid worldwide panic.

Nevertheless, before people simply believe that the 2012 meteor may hit Earth and cause a major apocalyptic event, it may be wise that people also take into consideration the speed and weight of the possible 2012 meteor or asteroid. If the 2012 meteor is flying really fast in space, it may well be fast enough in order to skip Earth without even hitting it, although there are predictions saying that the 2012 meteor will hit the Earth by December 21, 2012. With that being said, there may actually be some other things to consider before people strongly believe that the Earth, as well as the human race, is going to end by the year 2012.
