2012 Solar System Alignment - Possible Or Not?

Now this is a subject that is under a much heated debate: 2012 Solar System Alignment. Some say this could never happen, not even in a million years. The reason that this could never happen is also a highly debated subject as well. First we must consider a few things. In the world of science there is a huge difference between an "apparent alignment" and a "true alignment" of the planets, so realistically, the possibility of the occurrence of a 2012 solar system alignment is far from possible.

What Is Possible?

On December 21, 2012 there will occur an apparent alignment of three planets during the 4th hour. These planets will only appear to be in a straight line; Saturn, Mercury and Jupiter. Actually, the closest the planets came to a true alignment was on May 7, 2000 with Mercury, Venus, Jupiter and Saturn appearing to be inline with each other, though still not in perfect alignment and did not include all the planets of our solar system. So a complete, true alignment occurring and being named as the 2012 Solar System Alignment can be discounted as pure hype.

Solar System and The Galactic Plain

The 2012 solar alignment tale can be attributed to part hype, part exaggeration of what scientists really expect. The information has been inflamed to fit the need of some who like creating fits of hysteria amongst the population. In actuality, scientist do know, for a fact, that in outer space exists a galaxy (galactic plain or Galactic Equator), the Milky Way. Our solar system moves above and below this plain. Now, as the stars and planets approach this galactic plain, there will occur a gravitational influence (pull) which increases the closer our planet gets to it. This begins to disturb the regular stability of the planets, including our own Earth. As our planet begins to travel through the most dense part of this galactic plain we will experience the same shifts in the poles that have already been recorded through the course of the history of the Earth. So any changes that are going to occur will not be the cause of a 2012 solar system alignment, but as a direct result of Earth passing through the galactic plain of the Milky Way. The only alignment that will take place in December 2012 will be that of the Earth and the Galactic Equator.
