Using Sacred Geometry in Tibetan Bowl Sound Healing

The use of Sacred Geometry in Tibetan bowl sound healing can greatly enhance the effectiveness of your treatments. Sacred Geometry is an ancient science that shows how the energy patterns of Creation itself organizes itself in every natural pattern of life and growth through geometric shapes. These geometric patterns or codes known as the blueprint of Creation, are intimately interconnected with our consciousness in a deeply spiritual level. They can be seen everyday in our environment in ice crystals, snow flakes , DNA, pine cones, flower petals and all life forms. Working with these codes awakens in us the ability to re-discover the intrinsic balance, perfection and harmony of every situation and our non-dualistic connection to the Universe.

When patterns of sacred geometry are utilized in bowl layouts it is vital to know what energies each pattern awakens as well as to experience them as an extension of self. There is a vast difference in effectiveness between being fully engaged with the pattern you use vs superimposing patterns onto the bowls with too little understanding. Over the next few issues I will discuss several patterns of sacred geometry, their attributes as well as how to understand and use these patterns within sessions. The first phase of understanding sacred geometry is to develop an intimate dialog with it in yourself so as to fully awaken to its transformative power before you work with clients. Patterns include the pyramid, pentagon, six pointed star, spiral and more.

Years ago, when I did a great deal of dance, and before knowing anything about sacred geometry, I remember having a special affinity with the movement and form of the Figure 8. I would use my arms, hips and torso to create flowing figure 8 patterns and feel a great sense of expansiveness and inner peace. Now I understand why.

Here are some methods of working with and integrating sacred geometry into your life:

1 Gaze at the patterns

2 Search for and identify the patterns in objects, nature, art etc. Notice what the quality of the pattern is and it's effect on the environment.

3 Draw the pattern repeatedly as you notice it's energy within you.

4.Create patterns with bowls on the floor and walk them, play them, and allow them to become an extension of self.

5 Meditate on the forms

There are so many elements that come into play with sacred geometry. The Triangle will be discussed here as it pertains to the sound healing practice.

The triangle or triad is one of several significant shapes in the universe that emit energy through their powerful frequency; it's Golden Mean. The Golden Mean is a vibrational pattern that serves as an inter-dimensional doorway through which energy emerges into matter on our plane of existence. When we utilize patterns of sacred geometry, (in this case the triad), in healing sessions we are awakening the corresponding energies in our clients. Knowing the symbolism and energies associated with a particular shape of sacred geometry will helps us to utilize it effectively.

The triangle, equated with the number three, symbolizes the trinity of life; the body, mind and spirit as one unit. In other words the elements of physical form, thought and spirit that moves them. It represents balance, unabridged equilibrium, intact symmetry. Consider the objects and physical positions that are reflections of the triangle; the pyramid, tree of life, three footed stool, holy trinity, lotus position, yoga tree pose, etc. - each form reflects a strong structure of stability and strength which can be used in sound healing sessions.

In the Hindu & Buddhist traditions, the triangle, positioned with an apex pointing up, symbolizes the male energy fire, implementation, action and manifestation. While the downward pointing apex represents the female element of water, creativity and receptivity. These two positions, superimposed on one another, signify the unification of divine forces - the energy and principal of creation.

During your healing sessions pay special attention to the direction of triads as you move up down and around the body. Know that you can use form and direction to help ground energy, calm or energize, balance or strengthen masculine or feminine aspects in a client. Consider that you are utilizing sacred energy in powerful patterns and that each has specific attributes. Remember that these attributes are reflected within and supported by the vibrational sound signatures found within each Bowl you employ.
