From India, palmistry was spread throughout to world to regions such as China, Tibet, Egypt, Persia, and Europe. It was the Greeks who developed the technique within the shores of Europe. One of the most famous practitioners was Cheiro, he compiled various now famous books on the subject.
There was a long line of famous philosophers who were also interested in this form of divination. Hippocrates, Aristotle, and even Alexander the Great all based their thinking in part on palmistry. Even the most famous of Roman emperors, Julius Caesar, judged his men through palmistry.
If we fast forward to today, we discover that practices relating to this art are actually used by law enforcement agencies and medical researchers. It has been suggested that there is a link between patterns on the skin, known as dermatoglyphics, and genetic abnormalities and psychological behavior.
